What should I expect for our session?
Expect to have fun! One of my main goals is to create a stress-free shoot. My shooting style is calm and relaxed as I feel like that gets the best results for our session. Don’t expect perfection, don’t expect everyone to be looking at the camera and smiling the whole time. In fact, once we get those posed pictures out of the way, that’s when the fun begins! I am capturing your real experience, emotions and feelings that you are experiencing in that moment.
Does it cost extra to shoot at a studio?
Yes, all studios are subject to a cost per hour which is covered by the client.
I need my pictures quicker than the 4-5 week estimated turnaround, can I rush them?
Yes. I have one week and two week rush options that are available for a rush fee. Please let me know ahead of time if you need this!
Which areas are subject to travel fees?
TEXAS Clients - Areas outside of Northeast Houston that are over an hour travel time are subject to travel fees
UTAH Clients - Areas outside of Salt Lake and Utah counties may be subject to travel fees
Do you take posed newborn sessions?
I offer lifestyle newborn sessions usually taken in home or in a studio, which are a “lifestyle” approach with minimal posing.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Financing is available for all sessions including weddings. Session payments are usually split into two, with the first payment due upon booking and the second payment due the day after the session. Contact malaetalleyphoto@gmail.com for a customized plan.
What is the difference between a full session and mini session?
A full session is held on a date of your choice, location of your choice (curated location guide sent to you), 80+ edited images, and a mini session is held on a specific date, at specific mini-friendly locations, with image amount package options.
What should we wear?
Neutrals and muted colors work best with my style of photography! This is one of my favorite things to plan. I’ll send a styling link to help you visualize colors and outfits with your location. It includes shopping links to make it simple and easy!
What kind of location is best?
Always a tough question. I have so many favorites! Luckily, I have compiled a curated location guide full of several beautiful location options that I will send to you upon booking to help you with the choosing process.
What happens if it rains on our session date?
I’m definitely a girl that likes to plan, but more than that I want your session to be successful as much as you do! I will always give the option to reschedule due to rain and unfavorable shooting conditions.
How long to receive my gallery from session date?
Turnaround time for completed galleries is estimated to be 4 - 6 weeks from the session date, varying if the session is held during peak busy seasons. My three little kids at home will always be my top priority! :) Wedding galleries will be completed within 6 to 8 weeks.
How will I receive my gallery?
All images are delivered via an online service. You also receive access and storage of your gallery for one year for your convenience. Uploads of expired galleries, additional photos, additional edits, or USB copies may be subject to additional fees.
How far in advance should I book for best availability?
During January - August I usually book out at least one to two months in advance. Weekends book very quickly and I would recommend booking 3-4 months in advance to get a weekend. Fall season books extremely quickly and I recommend booking 3-4 months in advance for sessions September - December.
I’m a returning client, where do I find the discount code for my session?
You will receive the discount code through email if you are subscribed to my email list through my website. Email me at malaetalleyphoto@gmail.com if you need it sent to you!
When should maternity portraits be taken?
The sweet spot is anywhere in the 28-34 week range! If it’s your second or third pregnancy, I recommend scheduling on the earlier side!
